It's inexpensive, smells fresh, keeps your hedgie's paws and claws clean, and gives them something fun to dig and snarfle around in! And as long as there are no water bottle leaks, your companion's enclosure can go much longer in between full bedding changes if the dry poop is removed nightly.
Buying shavings in bulk from vendors like Tractor Supply, or your local equine shop or farm store, is much more economical than purchasing small bags from pet stores or big box stores.
